William H. Parks, 96, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Monday morning December 5, 2016 at Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam.
Born in Fairvale, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Burton Harold and Marion Christine Humphrey Parks.
As a young boy, William moved to Yonkers, NY, where he graduated from Gorton High School, Class of 1938. In 1956, William moved to Amsterdam, NY.
William was a United
William was employed by Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for 43 years, 17 years with Alexander Smith Carpet Company in Yonkers and 10 years for Douglas Interior Products, retiring in 1991.
William was a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Amsterdam. He was also a member of Welcome Lodge No. 829 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scotish Rite, Valley of Schenectady, Oriental Temple, Order of Mystic Shrine, American Legion Post 1509, Nepera Park, NY and Veterans of Foreign War Post 55, Amsterdam, NY.
William leaves his wife, Margaret Nelligan Parks, one daughter, Lynn Hoffman of Palm Desert, CA; two sons, Robert L. Parks of Palm Desert, CA; and John Parks (Diane) of Loudonville, NY, two grandchildren Ryan William Parks and Natalie Margaret Parks of Loudonville.
William was predeceased by his first wife, Audrey Dando Parks in 1965, one sister, Doris LaRotanda, one brother, Donald Parks and a son-in-law, Jack Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Interment will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
