Obituary for Agnes "Ann" "(Pat)" Stellato

Agnes “Ann” (Pat) Stellato, 91, of Division Street, Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday January 8, 2017 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam on July 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Reynolds) Patterson.

Ann received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam and continued her studies in Radiology. She was employed at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital as a Radiological Technologist from where she retired. Ann then went to St. Mary’s Hospital where she worked for another 15 years. She also ran Patterson’s Confectionary Store for many years.

Ann was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church. In her youth, she was a member of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary Bowling League and Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Bowling League. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Seniorsand was Director of Religious Education at Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill, NY.

Ann was an avid reader, history buff, and was always determined to master technology. She took several cross-country adventures and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. She was a lover of animals and rescued several from shelters over the years. Ann enjoyed classical music, going to the theatre, and socializing with her family and dear friends.

Her husband, Louis Stellato predeceased her on December 22, 1952. She is survived by one son, Anthony Stellato (Lorraine) of Tribes Hill, NY; her daughter, Ann Marie Gotzen-Berg of Amsterdam, NY; four grandchildren, Chris Gotzen-Berg (Diana) and Callie Gotzen-Berg, Andrea Novak (Timothy) and Matthew Stellato; and five great grandchildren, Alexander, Guiliana and Jack Gotzen-Berg, and Ryan and Connor Novak. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Her sister, Margaret Blatchford, and her brother, William Patterson also predeceased Ann.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11:15 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Agnes’ name may be made to National Shrine of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, 3628 State Highway 5, Fonda, NY 12068 or Amsterdam Free Library, 28 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
