Obituary for Diane A Garrasi (China)

Diane A. Garrasi, 65, of McElwain Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, February, 19, 2017 at home.

Born in Amsterdam on April 21, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Josephine Danylec China.

Diane received her education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Diane retired from Verizon Telecommunications as a Special Representative.

Diane was a parishioner of St. Stephens Church in Hagaman, NY. She was also a member of the Irish American Club, serving on the Board of Directors, Polish American Veterans Club, Amsterdam Free Library and volunteered at the Montgomery County SPCA.

Diane is survived by one son, Kyle Loux (Maria), one sister, Carol Rivera (Irving), one brother, Gary China (Joan), her two loving grandsons, Gabe and Ben Loux, two nephews, Richard China and Carl O’Brien, one uncle, Alfred China, two stepsons, Michael Garrasi (Kristin) and Timothy Garrasi and cousins.


Diane was also predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. “Butch” Garrasi.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning February 24, 2017 at 11:00 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

Calling hours are Thursday, February 23 ,2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary,
