Obituary for Carmela S Paro

Carmela S. Paro, 88, of Amsterdam, died after a short illness Saturday March 25, 2017 at Wilkinson Rehabilitation Facility in Amsterdam, NY.

Born in Amsterdam on August 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore “Sam’ and Rose Minisci Sirchia.

Carmela received her education in the Amsterdam school system.

She was a homemaker, and spent much of her life as a caretaker for her brother and parents.

Carmela was parishioner of the former St. Michael the Archangel Church in Amsterdam and a member of the St. Agnello Auxiliary in Amsterdam.

Her loving husband and best friend, Gordon S. Paro predeceased Carmela on August 19, 2015.
Carmela was also predeceased by two brothers, Private Frank J. Sirchia, who died shortly after D Day in France, where he is buried and Joseph Sirchia and a sister, Catherine Picciocca.

Carmela is survived by a brother-in-law, Martin Paro of St. Petersburg, FL., and a sister-in-law, Audrey Reichel of Amsterdam, NY. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with Fr. Robert O. DeMartinis officiating

Relatives and friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary.

Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Amsterdam, NY.
