Obituary for Raymond A "Ray" Moissonnier

Raymond A. Moissonnier, 84, of Stella Lane, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Thursday morning November 9, 2017 at Wilkinson Residential Health Care facility in Amsterdam.

Born in Holyoke, MA; on May 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Edmond and Louise Gravel Moissonnier.

Ray was a graduate of Holyoke High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Engineering from U. Mass at Lowell.

Ray was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957 in Germany. He also served two years in the Air Force Reserves.

Ray was last employed as a Technical Director at Gehring Tricot Company a Commercial Dye House in Dolgeville, NY from 1980 to 2004. He was previously employed as an assistant manager at Mohasco Industries for twenty years, from 1960 t0 1980.

Ray was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.

He was a member of the Bigelow Weavers, John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 both in Amsterdam and the American Association of Textile, Chemist and Colonist.

Ray was married to Catherine Kennedy Moissonnier on November 15, 1958, who survives, nieces and grand nieces and nephews.

Ray was predeceased by his son, Robert A. Moissonnier in 2013 and a brother, Marcel Moissonnier.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:15 a.m. St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.

Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Enfield CT.

Friends may call at St. Mary’s Church, Blessed Sacrament Chapel from 9:30 to 11:00 prior to the Mass.

Memorial gifts in Ray’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
